6 Healthy Habits

Ask yourself these questions to stay on the right track. If your answers do not match, get back on track. Lets start with the basics! One of the true keys to optimal fitness is a consistent healthy nutrition plan.

When was the last time you ate?

  • If it has been longer than 2-4 hours, your stomach may be rumbling for a reason. Its time to eat!

Where is the complete protein?

  • Are you about to eat at least 1 serving (20-30g) of complete protein? If not, I highly suggest it. Having sufficient amount of protein while training, can affect muscle repair, muscle grow, and strength. Ultimately, your gains may suffer.
  • Women typical consume around 20-30 grams  while men recommendations are doubled.

Where are the veggies?

  • Are you about to eat at least 2 servings of vegetables? Prepare any way you want, be sure get meals nutrient rich with a variety of vegetables.
  • 1 serving is about 1/2-1 cup. Your target will be 5-10 cups a day.

Where are your carbs?

  • If your goal is to eliminate fat, I would avoid pasta, bread, rice, and other starchy carbs until the post workout meal. Try doubling your intake of fruits and vegetables.

Where are your fats coming from?

  • Avoid trans fats. Get your fats from animal products, olive oil, flax-seed oil, or from a variety of seeds & nuts.

Are you thirsty?

  • We know sodas and those sweet juices are not good for us. Lets just cut those out completely.
  • Drink water throughout the day. Add a glass of 8 oz. water to every meal is a great start.
